About Aisling

Aisling Mc Hugh is an experienced podiatrist with a special interest in sports and exercise podiatry, running injuries, and in-depth biomechanical assessments. Originally from Ireland, she graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Podiatry from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, Scotland before relocating to Sydney in 2023.

Aisling began her career within the National Health Service during the Covid-19 pandemic, gaining extensive experience in high-risk foot care, wound management, biomechanics, nail surgery, and musculoskeletal podiatry. Alongside this, she worked in private practice treating everyone from everyday walkers and gym-goers to runners, HYROX competitors, and elite athletes.

She is passionate about identifying the root cause of pain and movement dysfunction – not just treating symptoms. Her biomechanical assessments and running analysis consider foot mechanics, strength, mobility, gait patterns, footwear, and training load to help patients move better, recover from injury, and perform at their best.

Aisling regularly treats:

  • Running and sporting injuries
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Plantar heel pain
  • Shin splints and stress injuries
  • Knee, foot, and lower limb pain
  • Tendon injuries and movement dysfunction

Her treatment approach may include:

  • Running and gait analysis
  • Strength and mobility assessments
  • Exercise rehabilitation
  • Shockwave Therapy
  • High-Powered Laser Therapy
  • Dry Needling
  • Foot mobilisation
  • Footwear and orthotic prescription

Alongside sports podiatry, Aisling also has a strong interest in general foot care and helping patients resolve painful or persistent conditions quickly and effectively. She regularly treats ingrown toenails, fungal nails, plantar warts, corns, and callus using evidence-based treatments including nail surgery, Swift Microwave Therapy, Falknor’s Needling, fungal nail laser treatment, and routine foot care.

As an active runner herself, Aisling understands the demands of training and rehabilitation firsthand. She trains for half marathons and marathons, competes in HYROX events, and enjoys strength training and reformer pilates -allowing her to provide practical, realistic advice tailored to active lifestyles.

Aisling is passionate about delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and helping patients stay active, pain-free, and confident on their feet.
